Experience a living piece of Pennsylvania history at the Jervis Gordon Grist Mill, the centerpiece of the Historic Upper Mill district in Milford. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this late-19th-century complex offers a unique glimpse into the industrial roots of American life.
Explore the Upper Mill District
Originally a bustling hub for local tradesmen, the district comprises three historic buildings: the grist mill, the blacksmith complex, and the miller’s house. In its heyday, the site was home to essential wood and metal shops that powered the local community.
What to See and Do
The Grist Mill: Take a free self-guided tour to see the inner workings of the mill. It features one of the only active, turning waterwheels remaining in Pennsylvania.

Shopping: Visit the on-site country store to browse local goods in a historic setting.
Historic Details: Keep an eye out for the original Rowe Brothers sign, a surviving artifact of the site's commercial legacy.
Note on Names: You may see this site referred to as the Jervis Gordon Grist Mill, the Upper Mill, or simply the Historic Mill. Regardless of the name, it remains one of Milford’s most essential and atmospheric destinations.
