Step inside The Haunted at The Candle Shoppe of the Poconos for a chilling journey through history. Built in 1897, this former home of Dr. William Redwood Fisher once housed his biological research lab—where primate experiments helped pave the way for vaccines. Guests will explore eerie remnants of the past, including original monkey cages, vintage equipment, and documents. The tour begins in Dr. Fisher’s basement laboratory and ends in the attic, once home to both his office and his daughter’s pet monkeys. Discover the haunted secrets that linger within these historic walls.
Perched high above the Delaware Water Gap, this scenic vista known as "Lover’s Leap" commemorates the 19th-century romantic legend of Princess Winona.
According to local folklore, Winona was the daughter of Chief Wissinoming of the Minisink (Lenni Lenape) people who fell deeply in love with Hendrick Van Allen, a young Dutch explorer. Facing an impossible future together and devastated by an impending separation, Winona reportedly cast herself from these high cliffs into the rocky valley below.
While popularized by author Luke W. Brodhead in 1870 to boost Victorian-era tourism rather than reflecting factual historical accounts, the tragic tale permanently cemented Winona's name across the region's landscape and nearby waterfalls.
The Pocono Devil is a localized piece of American folklore in Pennsylvania. Legend describes this figure as a vengeful demon or child who rose from the grave to stalk the dense mountain woods. It is often tied to the mysterious, rugged terrain and abandoned ruins of Monroe County.

The "Rain Man" of Stroudsburg refers to Donald Decker, a local man who made national headlines in February 1983 for allegedly causing it to rain indoors. The bizarre poltergeist-like events, where water seemingly dripped up and across rooms, were later immortalized on Unsolved Mysteries and the Syfy channel's Paranormal Witness.
The phenomenon initially broke out at the residence of Decker's friends, Bob and Jeannie Keiffer, located at 528 Ann Street. Police officers were called to investigate and confirmed water was dripping from the floor, walls, and ceiling, yet couldn't find a rational explanation.
